Strawberries
Our LARGE, JUICY STRAWBERRIES ARE
PACKED WITH HOMEGROWN FLAVOR and will be available typically
from late May until late June. Keep an eye on our
homepage for field conditions and availability. Pick
strawberries that are red all the way down to the nose- the
tip at the bottom. These will taste the best.
Treat them gently for longest shelf life.
We replant our field frequently
so that you will always have an abundance of big berries
from which to choose. Our berries are available
picked, or as pick your own. Quart baskets to pick
into are provided.
After the early summer berries
are done bearing we will have our EVERBEARING STRAWBERRIES
on the stand picked in pints, typically picked twice a week
on Wednesday and Saturday and sell out quickly, often before
noon. These have the same wonderful
homegrown berry flavor that the supermarket-shipped-in
berries just cannot compete with, but are smaller in size
than the June season berries.
Tip from a customer: place the
strawberries in a single layer on a dish in the
refrigerator. If they are not touching one another
they will last longer.
Raspberries
We have HUGE SWEET RASPBERRIES
available from the end of strawberry season until we close
in the fall. During that time there may be some
periods where the berries will be more and less abundant.
Be sure to check our homepage for availability, though we'll
generally have them. Look for raspberries that are red
all over. Ripe raspberries slip right off the bush as
you tug them. If it does not slip right off, it is not
ready to pick yet.
Raspberries are available picked
in half pint size or as pick your own pints. Due to
the transition as we move our pick-your-own up to the front
field, for 2011 pick your own raspberries and blackberries
will be available as posted on our homepage and by
appointment only. Pint baskets are provided. We
do not use larger size baskets for the raspberries because
we find the smaller size baskets reduce weight on the lower
berries, reducing likelihood of crushing, and helping them
to keep longer.

Blackberries
Our blackberries are ENORMOUS!
The thorny ones are the biggest, with some berries as long
as my thumb. Don't worry, we also have a section of THORNLESS BLACKBERRIES planted that are almost as big,
perfect for families with small children and grown ups who
want to avoid pricked fingers. Both were selected for
their excellent flavor. Look for berries that are
plump and fully black. Shiny black ones with a
purplish tinge tend to be sweet-tart, those starting to lose
their shine are the sweet-sweet ones.
